Industry Collaboration | Wind Power Academy

Subject experts from industry can consider being Adjunct Professors (semester-long courses) or Guest Lecturers (2.5-hr class) in teaching some of our wind courses. <<Further information for adjunct professors>>

Joint technical projects (one semester) for students of Offshore Wind Graduate Certificates (NJIT pays students $4000, industry voluntary matching contribution) are welcome from the industry.

The wind industry can consider offering industrial training courses through NJIT to gain visibility and credibility. For example, a 39-hrs training course may be offered as a 3-credit course. Shorter courses can be considered for micro-credential courses that may be stackable towards credits. A 13-hrs training may be counted as 1 credit, 26-hrs training may be counted as 2 credits, depending on the training contents and the corresponding 3-credit courses. An academic committee including the Vice Provost will review the training course contents and collaboration proposals. A collaboration agreement will be signed between the industry and NJIT.

What are micro-credentials? Traditional, 3-credit courses (e.g. 15 teaching weeks, 39 lecture hours). Micro-credentials are courses of shorter duration, for example, 5-hours, 10-hours, 15-hours, training and educational content. Micro-credentials are stackable toward credits, and can potentially contribute towards bachelor degree, graduate certificates, MS, or even doctorate degrees.

Collaborative (industrial) PhD: For wind industry researchers who are interested to pursue a PhD, NJIT Wind Power Academy can provide you a path. If you have a proven research record and your company is supporting your research activity during the PhD study, NJIT and your company can establish a joint PhD program for you. Two PhD advisors, one from your company and one from NJIT, will be assigned as your supervisors monitoring and guiding your PhD study. It is possible to waive GRE requirement for this path on a case by case basis. <<Further information>>
